Thank you for your interest in joining the National College of Tourism (NCT), a government owned institution that operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.  With over 30 years in existence, we continue to be committed to offering high quality education and training to persons wishing to take up lucrative and career enhancing positions in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.  Currently we operate from three campuses located in Temeke, Arusha, and our brand new Bustani facility, which was opened in December 2011 in the heart of Dar Salaam.

As the generation of the future, your interest and decision to join NCT is an important one. Tourism and hospitality continues to be one of the fastest growing sectors of the Tanzanian economy.  Marketed as the land of Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and the Serengeti, Tanzania’s magnificent tourism product attracts close to 1 million visitors annually.  However, while the sector continues to grow at a fast pace, employment by Tanzanians in the industry continues to remain at very low numbers.  This is something that we at the NCT are committed to redressing, for our country can only reap the true benefits from tourism growth, if more of our people are employed in the sector, particularly at the middle and upper management levels.  The government has given us a clear mandate to ensure that more Tanzanians are employed in tourism, and we are determined to deliver on this.

Enrollment at our Colleges currently stand at over 600 students and this number will continue to grow.  At the NCT we also have a highly educated and experienced team of instructors.  They are committed to ensuring that you receive the best possible quality of instruction and training, therefore adequately preparing you for one of the most employable sectors in Tanzania.

This publication of this new prospectus is quite timely. The NCT recently introduced a new competency-based curriculum for its Technician Certificates and ordinary Diploma Programmes, and it will soon be offering Bachelors degree programmes in Tourism and Hospitality. This prospectus is intended to serve as a guide to prospective or current students such as yourself, assisting in the planning your study programmes. As you peruse this document, you will find information regarding the academic programmes currently being offered, admission and graduation requirements, fees structure, as well as the College’s rules and regulations.

To the new and returning students, I look forward to seeing you at one of our campuses during the upcoming academic year. To the academic and office staff of the NCT, as well as our other stakeholders, I thank you for your continued support and commitment. In 2017/2018 we will continue to strive towards achieving our vision of becoming a centre of excellence that offers high quality hospitality and tourism training and education.
